Mobile devices turn up the heat

Shipments more than double, with the Nokia 7650 putting Symbian at the top of the OS charts Figures for EMEA (Europe, Middle-East and Africa) shipments of mobile devices in Q3 showed a 104 per cent growth over the corresponding quarter in 2001, figures from research group Canalys show. This puts an end to four consecutive quarters of decline. UPDATED: Former SUSE president bows out from Novell

Richard Seibt, one-time president of Linux vendor SUSE, is to bow out of his role as EMEA president for Novell, following the acquisition of SUSE at the beginning of the year. No details have been given as to Seibt's future plans or the dynamics behind his departure. However, his role within Novell was less than clear even at the time of the acquisition, when Novell CEO Jack Messman said he would: 'oversee the integration of SUSE into Novell'. ...more
